The Challenge
The original version of PrestaShop Checkout had become increasingly difficult to maintain and included outdated logic that limited its flexibility. To support faster development and long-term stability, we needed to simplify the codebase, remove deprecated functionality, and create a more scalable foundation.
One key challenge was delivering all of these improvements seamlessly to thousands of merchants through a single update without requiring manual reinstallation or reconfiguration.
We modernized the module’s backend architecture by completely refactoring the codebase to improve speed, reliability, and long-term stability. The updated structure ensures full compatibility with PrestaShop versions 1.7, 8, and 9, making maintenance easier for both merchants and developers.
This upgrade not only streamlines performance but also lays a solid foundation for future enhancements. By aligning with modern development standards, the module is now more scalable, secure, and easier to extend as business needs evolve.
